We have been using the wrong measuring stick to evaluate and select our Nation’s candidates for public office. We have been measuring them by the wrong standard to determine who is qualified to lead our country, who will be our President and fashion our foreign policy, and who will represent us in Congress. The same inappropriate yardstick has also been mis-applied to almost every State Assembly race and every gubernatorial campaign in the country for a long time! It is most unfortunate, but it is absolutely true!

Anita MonCrief Emerging Corruption Website Hacked and Forced to Shut Down!

Anita MonCrief’s courageous little truth-telling website “Emerging Corruption” was hacked last week by unknown internet saboteurs and forced to shut down. These ruthless electronic assailants compromised the site to such an extent that it was not possible to remain on line. The last I heard there was no estimated date as to when the site will be officially back up and running again, or positive confirmation of who is actually responsible for the digital attack. However we can imagine…

Barack Obama is The Great Pretender President

Barack Obama is the “Great Pretender.” He is actually the Great Pretender President! He daily pretends that he is competent to carry out the important duties of the highest office in the land, when in reality he is not even qualified to occupy the highest office in the land. The Constitution states in Article II, Section 1 that in order to be the President of the United States, in addition to being thirty-five years old, and fourteen years a resident of the United States, one must also be a natural born citizen. So even if Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, which seems highly unlikely at this point, his father was definitely not an American citizen! So by that very definition, according to some highly credible sources, Mr. Obama is not even eligible to be the President of the United States period, end of report!

The Ghost of George W. Bush

Do you want to go back to the failed old policies of the past, the policies that got us into this mess we are in, asks President Obama’s top political advisor. Never mind all of the failed policies of the present under Barack Obama. Pay no attention to them! Just look beyond them to the failed policies of the past he says, the policies of former President George W. Bush. But wait a minute, I think I hear the Ghost of George W. Bush Past! Is he rearing his restless head again? The Democrats just won’t let him rest in peace! “Every time President Obama needs a scapegoat or a little boost in the polls they dis-inter his tattered reputation again! Alas poor George! There really is no rest for the wicked is there?

A Penalty is not a Pig. It is not a Tax Either!

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said something in his recent television interview on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace that was very interesting. In fact it reminded me of something that Sarah Palin once said during the 2008 Presidential campaign. Justice Scalia noted that the interpretation of the Affordable Care Act can only be stretched as far as the language will bear. He then remarked that, “the penalty in the Affordable Care Act was not a pig, and it could never be a pig!” This actually reminded me of something that Sarah Palin said in her very first speech on the national stage. She said, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.”

From Caesar’s Death to Jesus’ Birth

Alexander the Great, Ptolemy, Julius Caesar, Brutus, Antony and Cleopatra, and Caesar Augustus all had something in common. What is it that unites all of these famous historic figures?... They all lived during a very brief period of time before the birth of Jesus Christ! So many things happened during those few tumultuous years between the death of Julius Caesar in 44B.C. and the birth of Jesus Christ roughly around 4 B.C. that almost no other time in history is nearly quite as significant. So many world changing events that altered the course of human history unfolded during those critical years between the murder of Rome’s first Caesar, and the birth of the world’s only Savior.

Party of Asses... Democrats are More Willing to Tell Lies than Republicans, New Study Shows

A little bit of insightful information was provided this morning by a very unlikely source, National Public Radio which is not necessary known for its fairness in reporting the news. It appears that Democrats are more willing to tolerate their political leaders lying to them than Republicans are!... Isn’t that interesting? That is what this new study showed. Now it’s a proven fact backed up by actual scientific data, and not just the subject of intelligent speculation anymore! Democrats actually like liars better than Republicans do! In a recently released study broadcast over National Public Radio by their very own Ari Shapiro, NPR reported that members of the “Donkey Party” have now become full-fledged members of the “Jackass Party” or as I am want to call them the “Dumbass Party”. So you see, Democrats really do tell more lies in order to get elected than their Republican counterparts do!

Kill Switch – Gun Grab

Apparently President Barack Obama has a kill switch for the Internet! He can personally cut off internet service to millions of American homes, and he can single handedly stop hundreds of millions of Americans from communicating with each other via the net with just a figurative mere flip of the switch. And to make matters even worse, he can do it all without any Congressional oversight or legitimate Court order! I know how much the Democrats hated George W. Bush with his big Texas swagger, but even George W. Bush with all of his Texas swagger didn’t try to do that!

Another senseless act of violence committed by a youth with a firearm. And another mindless attempt to limit the rights of Americans to own handguns.

A Rose by Another Name…A Penalty is Still a Penalty, No Matter What they Call It

It is my belief that we should continue to call the punishment in the new Health Care Law for not carrying insurance what it really is. It is a penalty for not purchasing health insurance! Let’s not give in to the pressure from the media to start calling it a tax now, just because John Roberts called it a tax. Let’s face it. The punishment in the Affordable Care Act is a penalty no matter what the Chief Justice calls it. It is still a penalty no matter what the media says! It is a government ordered fine for not carrying the mandated health insurance. A fine is not a tax! Well at least it isn’t in my world anyway. It is a punishment that is attached to a specific undesirable action or behavior which is regulated by law. And Americans have never had a law before that required us to buy health insurance!

Just Say No to Dhimmitude - It Has No Place in America

There is an old Islamic custom that requires treating a conquered and subservient people like second class citizens, even in their own country. This ancient Muslim tradition is called Dhimmitude. It requires that a conquered nation either convert to Islam en masse, or its people as individuals will be forced to pay a head tax just for the privilege of living in their own land! You see, under the Uma (the Muslim World) you can still live in your own country, but you have to pay for your crime of remaining a non-Muslim. The only other alternative is death…or immigration if you can escape!

Duplicitous: Chief Justice John Roberts - The Gift of George W. Bush that Keeps on Giving

We knew as conservatives that there was going to be a lot of time between the filing of the first legal challenge to Obama Care, and the time when all of the separate court cases would eventually be consolidated into one, and that one case would eventually be heard by the United States Supreme Court. We knew that there would be plenty of time to get to one of the more moderate members of the Court and persuade them to change their mind and vote along with the liberals to uphold the Affordable Care Act. We knew all along that the defenders of Obama Care only needed to peel off one of the more moderate Justices, and the Affordable Care Act would be upheld by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4 by the highest court in the land. We always thought that the vote we had to worry about, the one that might flip was Anthony Kennedy’s vote, that he was the weakest link in the conservative chain, the most likely member of the Court to switch sides. No one ever believed for a minute that John Roberts could be had, or bought off at any price!

Stop the Spin – An Open Letter to the Romney Campaign

I am going to vote for Mitt Romney in November and I hope that all of my fellow Republicans will get out and vote for our Party's nominee too, but his campaign team just has to stop promoting all of the spin. It just isn’t true to say that John Roberts is a genius, and Romney is not going to win his way to the White House by having his campaign staffers lie to us just the same way that the Democrats do! John Roberts is no genius. He is not even a conservative, so stop trying to tell us that he is! If John Roberts was a smart conservative, he would have put a stake right through the heart of the Affordable Care Act when he had the opportunity. If he had done that then the failure of Obama's signature piece of legislation would have been the nail in Barack Obama's coffin in November, or at least a millstone around his neck! Do you really think that Justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito are stupid, all three of them??? “A bird in hand is better than two in the Bush.” That’s what I believe!

Dear John: How Conservatives got Robbed by John Roberts

When is a tax really not a tax? And when does something that is really not a tax, but rather a penalty for failing to buy insurance become a tax instead? Are you about as confused as I am? Well apparently it is whenever the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court decides that it is, because he is the only man in the whole country that has the power to actually change the definition of words, and to give them new meaning! He is the only person in the whole country who has the capacity to redefine the English language to suit his own whims. Now with the Court’s permission you can do just about anything you want in America that is un-constitutional. Supposedly all you have to do is get the Chief Justice’s permission to change the definition of what is, is!

Supreme Court Rules on Arizona Illegal Immigration Law, SB 1070 - An Analysis

Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona called the recent Supreme Court decision on Arizona’s tough illegal immigration law SB 1070, “a victory for all Americans.” The central part of the law was upheld in an 8 to 0 decision Tuesday. Justice Elena Kagan recused herself from all votes regarding the Arizona law. The reason she gave for recusing herself was that she had been the Solicitor General when the Federal Government first sued Arizona over this matter. All of the other Liberal Justices on the Court voted with the conservative members to uphold the most important aspect of the Arizona law, however the victory was neither unqualified nor complete.

What’s Next for Egypt and the Middle East ?

Writing for my local newspaper’s editorial board a seasoned reporter wrote that the United States holds some kind of leverage over Egypt’s ruling military, and that we should not fail to use it. The editorial is the official position of the only newspaper in my city. The Op-Ed was written after the recent elections in Egypt, and the ruling military’s response to those free and fair elections. The Newspaper couldn’t be further from the truth! Nor could the particular response that its editorial board advocates America should take to events happening in Egypt right now, be more wrong, or more detrimental to peace in the Middle East! Let me explain…

Slavery and the Consequences of Slavery - Dialogue between Conservatives

Since I am not a Liberal, I don’t believe in the usual Democratic Party nonsense about reparations. That is just more of the same old “Great Society” gobbledygook that has led to the re-enslavement of millions of our fellow Americans over the last fifty years, and turned them into welfare recipients. But how can we move forward as a harmonious and psychologically healthy people when one side won’t even acknowledge the obvious pain caused to the other side by the simple act of enslaving their ancestors for over two hundred years? That systematic act has had a lasting effect upon the descendants of those African slaves, and far reaching consequences for America that still linger today!

God Bless the Parents Who Drugged Us

This little story has a rather unusual history. The author of this little story is unknown, and it has a rather roundabout way of getting to us. It has circled the globe many times. I found it on the internet on a Facebook page in Brisbane, Queensland. And I brought it back here to the States, where I published it on my website in Oregon. From there it will probably keep circling the globe again and again. It is a wonderful little story of what life used to be like in America, and it illustrates the type of good old fashioned common sense, discipline, and solid moral values that our parents grew up with.

Here Comes the Judge Again - U.S. Supreme Court Set to Rule on Patient Protection Affordable Care Act

Here comes the judge again. Well actually here come the nine judges again…the nine judges of the United States Supreme Court. They are coming this time with their legal decision on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which is President Obama’s signature piece of legislation. Their decision will be announced sometime in the next two weeks. It is the most important decision of the last one-hundred years because it will define the role of the Federal Government for possibly the next one hundred years. It is imperative that the justices of the Supreme Court get this decision right, and it would be much better if it wasn’t just another one of their divisive five to four decisions!

Fighting for Our Political Lives

More than anything else, the election of the next President of the United States is about selecting the next members of the Supreme Court who will soon be replacing the next aging and retiring Justices. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is 79 years old, and she is not in very good health. She has had multiple recurrences of cancer (colon cancer in 1999, and pancreatic cancer in 2009). While she would like to remain on the Bench until 2015 and retire at the age of 82, whether or not she is able to do that remains to be seen. Even if she does, her retirement would still fall somewhere during the next President’s term.

The Politics of Division: Re-Selling the Old Idea of Racial Inequality

Re-selling the idea of racial inequality in America in the wake of fifty years of steady progress isn’t really as easy as it sounds. It requires continual re-enforcement of a discredited old message that Blacks and Whites are not equal, and that they are still being treated differently by society through no fault of their own. This message is largely of course not true anymore, but it doesn’t stop the Democrats from promoting this kind of poppycock. The Democrats never let an inconvenient fact stand in the way of power and money, or of their progressive agenda!

Arizona's Tough New Illegal Immigration Law - The Supreme Court is Set to Rule

Based on the oral arguments, and the type of questions that were raised by the Supreme Court Justices, especially from the Court’s first and only Hispanic Justice, Sonia Sotomayor who is also the newest member of the Court, the United States Supreme Court seems un-likely to strike down Arizona’s tough new illegal immigration law, SB 1070. “Why don’t you try to come up with something else?” is just one example of Justice Sotomayor’s questions that she addressed to Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, who seemed like he was having a very hard time defending the Obama Administration's position.

Wisconsin Recall Election - Scott Walker is Poised to Win

Today is Monday June 4th. Tomorrow there is a recall election in Wisconsin. It is an election of significant national importance, and vast amounts of money from all over the country have been flowing into Wisconsin in order to try to influence the results of this election. Governor Scott Walker is running again for the office he won only two years ago against the Democratic Mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett, the same man that he defeated two years ago in the General Election. Outside money has been freely flowing to both candidates in this race. Corporate money has been going into Walker’s campaign treasury, and Union money has been going into Barrett’s. But all of the money in the world cannot influence the course of events in Wisconsin if the underlying cause that it seeks to support is not just! All of the money cannot turn wrong into right, nor can it turn back the hands of time. The race is almost over. The statewide voting begins tomorrow. And we should know the results of the election by Tuesday evening.

What Choice do we have?

Regretfully I have to report today that Mitt Romney has now amassed 1191 delegates who will be going to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. He has now accumulated a sufficient number of delegates to actually win the Republican nomination in August. He only needed 1144 delegates. Texas has put him over the top.

There is almost nobody more anti-establishment than I am. I have been writing articles critical of Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney for over two years, but there are only two choices left in this race now. They are Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.

Wasted Opportunity - Who Pulled the Plug on the Conservative Revival in America?

Republicans never had a better chance to put a solid conservative onto the ballot and into the White House than we did in this year's Republican Primary Elections. We had all of the pent up energy from the TEA Party Movement that has been building for the last three and a half years. There were also the thousands of local 912 groups that have sprung up all across America since the election of Barack Obama in 2008. Not since the peanut farmer from Plains Georgia, Jimmy Carter has there been such a firestorm of discontent raging in America.

The Union of Corp. Gov. reposted from November 2010

To many observers, the two major political parties, the Republicans and the Democrats look remarkably alike. They seem to have merged or at least blurred the distinctions between them. Some refer to that merger as the "Republicrats" or "Democans". However I prefer to call the Republicans, the party of Big Biz and the Democrats the party of Big Gov and Big Unions, and their peculiar merger, I call the Union of Corp. Gov. We no longer live in the United States of America. We now live in the Union of Corp.

The Fanatical Face of France

For over a hundred years the French have had a big love affair, not with the moon, nor with pizza, but with big government, i.e. Socialism. Last week they renewed their love affair once again by electing a French member of the Socialist Party to be the next President of France. He will replace the outgoing French President Nicholas Sarkozy, who by the end of his first term in office had already squandered most of the popular good will that he received five years ago when the French people handed him the keys to the Elysee Palace. Darn it! I was just starting to get used to the pronunciation of his name!

Eugene EmX – Rapid Transit Fetish

Sometime later this year the Eugene City Council will be asked to reaffirm its previous vote in support of the west Eugene EmX.” So writes Larry Reed, who is the former zoning administrator for the City of Eugene. Mr. Reed now works in the private sector as an urban planner. However his statement is not really true. A City Council vote is not a rubber stamp! The Eugene City Council is not being asked to reaffirm anything. Actually it is being asked to take a new look at the EmX in June with a fresh set of eyes. It is being asked to re-evaluate the EmX in view of recent developments. That is a far cry from the official rubber stamp that Mr. Reed envisions.

Mush heads in the Middle - Undecided Voters are the Target of a Huge Last Minute Media Blitz

About every two years or so in America we have elections again. The two main “gangs” that control just about everything that goes on in our country from the lowly streets to the posh executive boardrooms are called the Republicans and the Democrats. They hold these so called “free and fair” elections all across America, from Bangor, Maine to San Diego, California… and they raise and spend hundreds of millions of dollars just to influence the results of these manipulated and scripted events. By doing so they are trying to persuade millions of undecided voters, especially in the final weeks before Election Day!

Michael Morton , for the murder of his wife Christine Morton. She was raped and bludgeoned to death that morning on her bed. The couple’s three year old son Eric was an eyewitness to the brutal murder of his mother and he told the true story of how it happened to his grandmother.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on Trial

I know that Congress can regulate commerce, Justice Kennedy said, but does Congress have the authority to create commerce? The question was directed at Donald Verrilli, the Solicitor General who was defending the Obama Administration’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Verrilli was arguing the case in front of the United States Supreme Court. If Congress can actually create commerce where none existed before, and if it can force Americans to engage in a regulated commercial activity even when they do not want to, then Congress has the power to force Americans to be regulated against their own will.

Only Pandering, Insincerity, and Political Expediency Do I See

Two months ago nearly all of the Republican candidates in the Primary were literally "one-upping" each other to sound tougher on illegal immigration... A border fence, NO amnesty for illegals, NO pathway to citizenship, mandatory use of E-Verify, and tougher sanctions against employers who hire illegals! All of these options were being touted by the candidates. About the only candidate who stood out like a sore thumb was Texas Governor Rick Perry with his soft styled illegal immigration policy of granting in-state college tuition benefits to illegal aliens in Texas.

Oregon House Bill 4111 - News Blackout

There is a veritable disregard for truth and accuracy in reporting the news, whenever it makes conservatives look good, or when it reflects negatively upon State Government, or if it implicates the darling Democratic “Progressive Establishment.” There is no better example of this than Oregon. Only Democrats in Oregon can be allowed to look good in the eyes of the general public, and reap the public relations rewards for fixing something that is wrong in our State. Only the Democrats of course can be perceived as real reformers who have the public’s best interests at heart. As we all know, the generally enforced stereotype is that Republicans are all supposed to be “evil capitalists”.

It’s About Time to Start Revitalizing the Republican Party

There was a lot of pressure put on Rick Santorum to withdraw from the race and to end his Presidential campaign. My guess is that it was both financial and personal. Regardless of what anyone else says, this was not a good day for America.

Now that it’s About Over…Or is it?

Rick Santorum threw in the towel last week and all but ended his surprising, come from behind political campaign for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012. In so doing he dropped his conservative political challenge to rival frontrunner Mitt Romney, and he essentially handed him the Party’s nomination at Tampa in August on a silver platter. Now that progressives in the Republican Party have their typical, checked pants, country club, big business Republican to lead the Party once again in 2012, they can turn their attention to defeating Obama, the other progressive candidate in the race, and to playing another round of golf at the country club!

This year Rob Handy and Peter Sorenson are running again for re-election to the Lane County Board of Commissioners from District 4 and District 3 respectively. It is important for the voters of North and South Eugene to remember that they were both found guilty of serious ethical violations of Oregon’s Public Meetings Laws, not by a Republican judge, of which there are not many in Oregon, but by an impartial judge of the State of Oregon. The President of the United States said, “Republicans in Congress have proposed a budget that is so far to the Right that it makes the Contract with America look like The New Deal”. That message was broadcast by the Commander in Chief directly over National Public Radio. This article is a rebuttal to Stephen Walt’s March 2012 piece that appeared in Foreign Policy Magazine.

In responding to Professor Walt’s many different assertions and assumptions I would like to offer what I believe is a more sensible and more realistic counter opinion, and a realistic alternative to his arguments which basically support Iran’s right to have a nuclear weapon. When you get right down to it, all of Stephen Walt’s arguments go to supporting Iran’s right to develop and build atomic weapons!

Freedom The Best Antidote for What Ails Us

Freedom of speech is not a slogan. It is not a bumper sticker. Free speech is more than mere empty words. Just as I believe in free speech, and free markets, I also believe that more freedom, not less freedom, is the solution for what is wrong with our country. I believe that freedom is The Best Antidote for What Ails Us.

Rocket Man and The Man on the Moon

It looked until very recently like either Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney, who were jockeying back and forth in the polls, were a “shoe-in” to win the GOP Primary. But that was before Rick Santorum took off, i.e. Rick Santorum’s Presidential campaign blasted off form the Primary launch pad. It blasted off like a giant Atlas V Rocket with two solid propellant booster tanks strapped securely to its sides, and a Presidential candidate’s capsule mounted firmly atop the powerful launch vehicle, which was aimed directly at Washington D.C. with a soft targeted landing planned for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue sometime between November 2nd 2012 and January 20th 2013.

Drastic Problems Require Drastic Solutions

I realize that drastic problems require drastic solutions. Problems of the type and magnitude that our country is facing require drastically different solutions proposed by drastically different leaders. The only drastically different candidate left in the Republican Primary with drastically different solutions is Ron Paul. None of the other candidates in the race are really that much different than the other leaders who preceded them, and from all of those who have been governing our nation for over the last thirty years! And therein lies the problem. We need to put out a huge fire that is raging inside Washington, D.C. It concerned their ongoing efforts to assess the costs of acquiring the legal right of way for the proposed EmX in West Eugene. The public was invited to attend, but not to participate. The lone member of the audience who dared to attempt to speak at the meeting was promptly cutoff at the knees and informed that he was not going to be heard from. It is not unusual. It doesn’t actually think that it is doing anything wrong. In fact, like some people I know, it doesn’t think that it ever does anything wrong. It is just following it’s own nature. The entire State of Oregon voted Republican, except for the major metropolitan areas of Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis. Those were the only areas in the State that the Democrats carried!

America’s National Security or A Politician’s Job Security?

As far as I’m concerned, there is no good reason to raise huge sums of money to finance a political campaign. It is not helpful. It eventually winds up in the hands of liberals who own the media, and that ultimately makes our job even harder in the long run! There is also no good reason to contribute big sums of money to support your favorite political candidates. Just vote for them, and encourage others to vote for them too! If we all just did that, then we wouldn’t need to raise such large sums of money to give to liberals, just in order to get our guys elected to office! This cop happened to be from Springfield, but he could have just as easily have been from Eugene. I insisted upon speaking with his watch commander, but I was told that the watch commander was out in the field and couldn’t be reached. I’d said I would be willing to wait or come back later if I could just talk to him. “I told you he is in the field and can’t be reached,” the officer snorted. “Well I guess that people don’t matter around here,” I quipped back. “What’s your name?” the cop demanded to know. “Scott Rohter” I said. “Don’t move, I want to talk to you,” he shot back.

Thomas Jefferson – Life, Liberty, and… the Divisive Issue of Slavery

The fundamental rights, upon which our English common law is based, are the right to Life, Liberty, and Property. They have never been more eloquently stated than by the English philosopher, John Locke (1632-1704) whose ideas became the foundation for the Whig Party. Their motto was “Life, Liberty, and Property.” Later, his ideas were the fountainhead from which Thomas Jefferson drew on to write our American Declaration of Independence. However property rights were not even mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, or in the United States Constitution as it was originally signed and ratified. Property rights were not mentioned as one of the truths that our Founding Fathers held to be self-evident, or one of the unalienable rights with which we are all endowed by our Creator.

Learning the Rules of the Political Road… It is Not a Hard Choice

There are always rules to follow in life wherever you go, or whatever you do. In every aspect of life there are going to be rules to follow, whenever you do anything, that are supposed to make life better. Some rules are more important than others, and some rules make a lot more sense than others, but there will always be rules in one form or another, as long as there are people. They are designed to bring order out of chaos. There is no getting away from rules. The most important rule of all is the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Ding Dong, Taepo Dong, and So Long Kim Jong-Il

Do you remember the Wizard of Oz? “Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch… is dead!” Kim Jong-Il, I mean Kim Jong-Mentally Ill, is finally Kim Jong-Physically Dead. And with his demise comes the succession of his youngest son, Kim Jong-Un! Thus we go from the dead, to the ‘Un’ dead, to the land of the living dead, which is North Korea, a country of about twenty million starving people. But just to let us know that unlike his dear, departed father, Kim Jong-Un is very much alive and well, and a force to be reckoned with, the new leader of North Korea’s Communist dictatorship fired off a couple of North Korean Long Dong ballistic missiles this week into the South China Sea, about 70 miles off the coast of North Korea. This was to be expected, just like the morning Sun rises over the Sea of Japan, and millions of Japanese and South Korean citizens will be discussing Jong-Il and Jong-Un today over their morning coffee. They will be debating every little move and every hint of a move in this North Korean Communist country’s oligarchy.

Counterfeit Conservatives - Newt Romney

The Bible says that Lucifer comes as an angel of light, and he sounds so much like a messenger from God, that if it were possible he would deceive even the very elect. Of course it is not possible Jesus proclaims, because God is the guarantor of our salvation! But who or what is the guarantor of our personal freedom? In the United States, the Constitution is the great guarantor of our freedom! But how can this amazing document, which is the greatest achievement of our Founding Fathers, who have long ago died, defend even one of our sacred liberties from the encroachments of living politicians who have more than once tried? The plain and simple truth is that no assemblage of mere words, no matter how lofty or high-minded they are, can defend us unless we are first willing to defend our Constitution.

A Clash of Views Over Education

University of Oregon president Richard Lariviere had his supporters. They were mostly alumni, faculty members, staff, and administrators whose salaries he had raised during an era of state budget tightening. But Lariviere was not a man to be deterred by mere budget cuts, or by the State Board of Higher Education, or even by the Governor’s office, all of whom he ignored. He had a vision, and no one could ever accuse Mr. Lariviere of being a spend thrift, or of being frugal with money. But whether he was a lone visionary, or just the University’s prodigal son will be hard to ever know, because he was abruptly fired yesterday, November 28th 2011, after several warnings, and an unusual clause in his contract was exorcised giving him just 30 days to pack his bags and vacate the University President’s office.

Cheating Your Way to the Top of the GOP Primary

The Republican Presidential Primary race has narrowed by one more this week, with Herman Cain tossing in the towel. It already appeared to be boiling down to a three-way race between a man who cheated on his wife, a man who is only accused of cheating on his wife, and another man who has probably never cheated on his wife… and never will! Now if that was the only thing that we knew about each of these candidates, who would you vote for? Well, I’m old fashioned, so I’d probably pick the man who remained faithful to his wife. What about you? If you can’t manage your personal life, and your own household successfully, then you are not ready for a promotion! You are not ready to take on a job that requires even more managerial skills and responsibilities. And you are not qualified to lead and govern a great country! But apparently, many Americans don’t agree with me, if you can believe the latest polls.

A Twisted Tutorial

In a review of his 1971 book, Rules for Radicals, the Chicago Sun Times claims that activists and author Saul Alinsky was very influential in developing the impressionable young minds of both President Barack Obama, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Alinsky dedicated his well-known primer on fomenting rebellion, and Marxist revolution to Lucifer! That’s correct, Lucifer! And if that doesn’t sound strange enough, Alinsky goes on to praise the devil for being the world’s first truly successful radical who’s revolutionary ideas successfully challenged the established order. Then while admitting that he doesn’t actually know whether the Biblical story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden is actually true or not, but claiming that it doesn’t really matter, Alinsky states in the preface to his little red book, that Lucifer was so effective at being a radical community organizer, that he was rewarded with his own personal kingdom on earth. By this he infers that all of his readers should aspire to be successful little radicals like Lucifer. That’s quite a spin job, even for a first class disseminator like Alinsky!

The Inverse Relationship Between Freedom and Big Government

In the United States we have a two Party system. There is the Big Business Party (Republicans), and the Big Government Party (Democrats). The biggest business of all is big government, and the biggest kind of government is Socialism, or to put it another way, the biggest business is a monopoly, and the biggest monopoly of all is Socialism! The average business monopoly just controls a small part of the economy. A Socialist government however, controls everything that goes on in an entire country, and eventually in the whole world if you let it!

What Can We Do With the Occupy Eugene Movement?

What can we do with the Occupy Eugene Movement? The City of Eugene has now built a chain link fence around three sides of the Occupy Eugene tent city, it looks more like a tent slum. Yesterday, somebody overdosed on heroin there. The encampment is located under the Washington/Jefferson Street Bridge. The fence will not be permanent though, we are assured, by the Mayor’s office. However, it cost $2,000 to construct it! The damage to the park will not be permanent either, but it will cost much more to clean up their mess, and revive the grass that will be turned to mud by the time that they leave! Guess who will pay for that, too?

Newt Gingrich: The Consummate Politician and Quintessential Figurehead of the Republican Establishment

No Republican candidate running in the 2012 Presidential Primary is a bigger member of the Republican political establishment than Newt Gingrich is! He represents everything that the elite Republican establishment has stood for, for the past thirty-two years. He epitomizes the ‘Rockefeller wing’ of the Republican Party. He is a typical ‘checked pants’ Republican! And just because he has not held an elected office for the last twelve of those thirty-two years, that does not mean that he has not kept his hand in politics, or that he has been out of the loop.

The Crippling Legacy of Slavery - How America’s Original Sin of Slavery Still Affects Us Today

Slavery was a horrible price to pay for Africans to come to ‘the New World’! In the 17th and 18th centuries, some Americans might have said that it really wasn’t so bad, and that colored people actually needed the white man to look out for them and take care of them. I have learned that human beings can justify almost any sin imaginable, including murder and genocide! Today some people might still argue that indentured servitude was common in those days, and that slavery was just the price of their admission to America.

While it is true that we all paid something in order to come here, and many of our immigrant ancestors to America sold all of their belongings to pay for their journey here from ‘the Old World’, I would simply say that 200 years of slavery was a very expensive boat ticket!

I Am Woman! Apparently I Have to Roar. Gender Bias in the Republican Presidential Primary

In the Republican Presidential debates, the moderator of the debate seldom asks Michele Bachmann a question. When they ask another candidate a question, that candidate seldom mentions her name in their answer, so she seldom gets a follow-up. They stick her all the way over on the far left or the far right side of the stage, next to Ron Paul, who also gets ignored by the press. If I was Michele Bachmann, I would be scratching my head, and wondering what I have to do to get noticed. “What does a gal have to do in order to get noticed around here?” After all, I am smart. I am successful. I Am Woman! What do I have to do to be heard? Well apparently, you have to roar! You are being way too nice. You are playing by the same set of rules that have been put into place by the media, and by the Establishment, in order to marginalize your campaign! They don't like your political message. The only thing left that they care about is the amount of money that you can spend during the campaign, but since you haven’t raised the kind of big money that they like to see, they are going to try to avoid mentioning your name.

Losing the Bigger Ideological Struggle With Socialism

The United States won the Cold War with the Soviet Union, but we are losing the bigger ideological struggle with Socialism. Out of 183 countries in the world today, only a handful of countries are not socialist! Only a few countries follow the principles of limited government, and individual liberty as set forth in our Constitution, and have free and open markets. These are the principles that built America into a great nation!

Whatever strategy the United States is using, it is not working very well at convincing other countries around the world to follow our example.

The Biggest Entitlement of All

Democrats think that Barack Obama deserves a second term in office, and if he doesn’t get it, then America must be a racist country. In their view he is entitled to another four years in office, simply because he is the first black President of the United States. After all, George Bush had two terms. So if George Bush served eight years in office, then Barack Obama should have eight years in office too! At least that’s what they think! If Barack Obama doesn’t get re-elected in 2012, then it must be only because America is at its core, a racist nation. It couldn't possibly be because his policies are so far to the left that most Americans don't identify with them, and many of those who did vote for him in 2008 are disappointed and don't want to extend him another invitation for four more years in office! Could it?

Herman Cain should simply say, “I did not have my hand on that woman’s thigh!” Or, “It depends on what the definition of have is.” At least that’s what Bill Clinton would say!

An EU Bailout of Greece, or Not to Be an EU Bailout of Greece?

The BBC reported today that Greek Prime Minister, George Papandreou, put together, “This puzzling proposal” to let the people of Greece actually vote on the planned EU bailout of their country. That’s assuming that they still have a country, which apparently they do not! The attitude of the other socialists in Papandreou’s Party and in Europe was, “Let the Greek people be damned. How can we let them actually vote?”

According to the ‘Beeb’, this idea of allowing the Greek people to vote angered the socialist, former East German Angela Merkel, who is the leader of Germany, and her fellow socialist traveler from the other side of the Rhine, French President Nicolas Sarkozy. They were both outraged that Papandreou actually wanted to let the Greek people vote on this matter. But that’s Socialism for you, for all of you Democrats! I hope you are paying attention, because that’s what’s in store for you too, if you keep following those left-wing policies of yours!

What to Do About Occupy Wall Street. Who is the 99% and Who are the Occupiers?

If the people of Occupy Wall Street are actually the 99% that make up America, then we really are in a lot of trouble! If that premise is even close to being true, then there is not much hope left for our country! All we can do is shake our heads and mourn the passing of our moment in history. But these ‘occupiers’ don’t look like they represent most Americans to me! They don’t look like they have any common sense, or any ambition to better their situation in life. They are too busy whining about all of the alleged injustices in the world. A whole month is really a lot of time to just complain about life. And if they think that pitching a tent in some park across from Wall Street, or anywhere else in America, is actually going to convince rich people to just give up their money, or somehow bring about a redistribution of wealth, then they really do have a lot to learn about life.

The Hand of God at Work in American Politics, and in the Founding of the Republican Party

President Zachary Taylor only served sixteen months as President of the United States, when on July 9th 1850 he died suddenly in office after a short illness that lasted only five days. Up until that very moment, he had tried to steer a neutral course between Slave Holding States and Free States. He was a slave owner himself, who came from Virginia, which was a Slave Holding State, but he favored admitting California and New Mexico to the Union as quickly as possible, even after they voted to become Free States. The admission of California and New Mexico to the Union was vehemently opposed by ‘the South.’

Newt Worthy or Not? Is Newt Gingrich the Best Candidate for President in the Republican Primary?

Now that Newt Gingrich has officially declared what most of us already knew or suspected, that he is in the running for the Republican Party nomination in 2012, I started thinking again. True conservatives, libertarians, and constitutionalists are not just fighting Barak Obama and the Democratic Party! We are also up against the entire ‘Progressive Establishment,’ that seeks to maintain control over both the National Democratic and the Republican Parties. The ‘Progressive Movement’ is well financed. It has been around since the early 1900’s. ‘The Progressive Establishment’ attempts to control both National Political Parties, which is why both candidates in a particularly important race can both be ‘Progressives’.

Taking On Mark Levin - Is Talk Radio’s ‘Great One’ Just a Great Big Bully?

Is Mark Levin really so great, or is he really just a great big bully? Before I answer that question, I would like to start by saying that Mark Levin has done so much for the conservative movement, both in the Republican Party and in the TEA Party. He is very knowledgeable and honorable, and I still believe that he is a powerful political ally, and a strategic asset for conservatives all across America. I believe that he truly does love this country, and the Constitution! However, that being said, he is obviously not perfect and on that point he has been very hard on Congressman Ron Paul.

There are pictures all over the world of Libyans celebrating his death in the streets! Obviosly his death is no great loss to the world, and only a few of his surviving family and friends are even alive to mourn the loss of this contemptible dictator! (Note: some of his family members were also killed in the eight-month long rebellion.) This is the strandard way of thinking, but there are always two sides to every story.

A Primer on the Middle East The Arab – Israeli Conflict

In a letter to the editor dated October 18th 2011, Sarah Ruth writes, “It is pure bunk to say that there never was an Arab country called Palestine.” Actually Sarah, there never was an Arab country called Palestine, not in the Middle East, and not anywhere else! That statement happens to be historically true. The key words here are Arab country. Approximately five thousand years ago, there was a non-Semitic, non-Arab people living in the general area of the Gaza Strip, called Philistines. Their language was similar to Hebrew, but they were not descendants from Shem (one of Noah’s sons) and so they were not Semitic, and they certainly were not Arabs! Philistines were a people who lived along the coast of Southern Israel, and they were closely related to the Canaanites who lived farther inland, and to the Phoenicians who lived farther north in the coastal plain of what is today called Lebanon. None of these people were Arabs.

Is it the role of the Federal Government to fix everything and make everything right? Some people think that it is! Where does this notion come from, that the Federal Government is some kind of big sugar daddy that is supposed to fix every wrong, and make everything right? Does it come from the U.S. Constitution? Absolutely not! It is a result of the failure of our society to fully understand, and teach the importance of self-reliance and personal responsibility! The notion that our Federal Government is supposed to fix every wrong is caused by the failure of our national education system based in Washington D.C. to teach the true meaning of freedom and responsibility

What Keeps Americans Free From One Generation to the Next?

What keeps Americans free from one generation to the next? Is it the Federal Government in Washington D.C.? NO! Is it Congress, or the WhiteHouse, or the nine men and women who sit on the Supreme Court? Of course not! It isn’t even the United States military, except in those rare instances when we have actually been threatened by a foreign enemy. In 235 years that hasn’t happened very often. But what keeps Americans free when we are daily threatened by domestic enemies? Our strong military isn’t much help when our enemies are domestic. All we have left to defend ourselves against domestic enemies, is our Constitution!

Occupy Wall Street Vs. the TEA Party - A Comparison

Well, well, well as we spring forward into the fall 2012 election season, and into full campaign mode in October of this year, I see that the Democrats have finally launched their longed for, and much anticipated antidote for the TEA Party. This is the Occupy Wall Street Movement, or simply OWS. They hope that it will energize their disillusioned democratic base, and get them all to turn out in droves, to vote for them again in 2012! One conservative radio talk show host already called this anti-TEA Party movement, the ‘FLEA Party’. I wonder why? I guess the protestors outside Wall Street have been there for over three weeks already, and some of these guys and gals need a bath!

Pay to Play - Financing the Republican Campaign Message

The third quarter figures are coming in, and Mitt Romney has raised over $32 million, almost as much as all of the other Republican candidates combined! Rick Perry is next in line with $17 million, followed by Ron Paul with $12.5 million, then Herman Cain with $4.5 million, Jon Huntsman with $4.1 million ($2 million of which comes from his own personal fortune), Rick Santorum with $2 million, Newt Gingrich with $2 million, and Michele Bachmann with about $5 million. The figures for Huntsman, Santorum, Gingrich, and Bachmann are all for the second quarter. They have not been updated to include their third quarter figures yet.

So why are all of these numbers so important?

Herman Cain Vs. Mitt Romney - The TEA Party Versus the Republican Establishment

Some radio talk show host asks the question, “Why is Herman Cain surging in the polls?” Let me explain you why in just one word: ROMNEY! Romney is why Herman Cain is up in the polls! It’s because the Republican Establishment prefers Mitt Romney. All of the big money is behind Mitt Romney, and some of the big names too, like Chris Kristy, and Jeb Bush. These are more than just big endorsements, they are just plain big men!

The Occupy Wall Street Gang Vs. The Wall Street Gang

Anybody in America today who is worth less than a million dollars is actually poor! Welcome to the New World, and welcome to reality! That is true for the vast majority of people living in the United States. And there is no point in complaining about it to anyone, because most of us are all in the same boat. The ‘middle class’ now falls roughly somewhere between 1 and 100 million dollars, this is just a rough guide. It is not a hard and fast rule. It is not supposed to be understood too literally. But this is the same group of taxpayers and job creators, ‘the middle class’, that Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and most of the Democratic Party literally want to target, and hopes to increase taxes on.

Snow White and the Seven Republican Dwarfs

This is a story about Snow White and the seven Republican dwarfs, staring Michele Bachmann as Snow White, the conservative princess, with a star-studded cast of supporting actors in their respective roles as the seven Republican dwarfs. There is Ron Paul staring as Goofy, John Huntsman as Dopey, Gary Johnson as Simply-Irrelevant, Herman Cain as Happy a.k.a. Smiley, Newt Gingrich as ‘Sleezy’ or the Ging-Grinch that tried to steal the nomination, Rick Perry as Mr. Friendly, a really nice guy, and the candidate with a heart who reminds us all of the compassionate conservative, George W. Bush, and finally Mitt Romney in his continuing role as Doc Flakey, or just plain old Mr. Wishy-Washy.

The First Chinese Rocket to the Moon – Unmasking the New World Order

We have more laws in the United States than we have freedoms. We have more codes, ordinances and statutes on the books than we have libraries to contain them all. That’s not to mention all of the other administrative rules and bureaucratic red tape that ties our country up in such a knot that we can’t even function any more. And when you add on all of the international laws and the treaties that we’ve signed, it’s no wonder we are in the situation we’re in! So just how does a country like China get to become the economic power house of the world? Well, only with the same kind of bungling bureaucracy and job killing mismanagement that has come to characterize our economy for the last 40 years.

Romney, More Than a Little Bit Insincere

Former Governor Romney of Massachusetts is being more than a little bit insincere about his Massachusetts Style State Healthcare Plan, ‘Romney Care’. It is the model for President Obama’s National Healthcare Plan. I know Governor Romney comes off looking rather good on television, but he has certainly had enough practice at being in the national spotlight, so he should be rather good at it by now! Nevertheless, his model of government run healthcare is the model that President Obama used to impose his National Healthcare Plan on the whole Nation, and Governor Romney is trying to weasel out from under that millstone around his neck by just calling it a States Rights issue! We conservatives should not let him get away with that!

Cheater Paul, and Perry - Reflections on the Third Republican Presidential Debate

After watching the Third Republican Presidential Debate on TV, now I remember why I don’t like to watch debates on TV. In fact, I don’t like to watch any important political ideas being communicated over the television. How does one actually watch a debate anyway? You are supposed to listen to a debate, not watch it! Ideas and thoughts are communicated through the power of words, either written words or spoken words. Television is primarily a medium of visual communication. One doesn’t actually listen to TV as much as one watches TV!

A Herman Cain Conundrum

The fact that Herman Cain won the Florida Straw Poll by such a wide margin shows just how angry the American people are at career politicians. Cain received 37% of the vote compared to Governor Perry’s distant second place finish, with only 15% of the vote. Romney was next with 14%, followed by Rick Santorum. Michele Bachmann for whatever reason, finished in last place, with less than 2% of the votes. What conclusions can we draw from the results of this poll, other than that Governor Perry is not as popular in the South as he thought he was, and Michele Bachmann is having her campaign totally mismanaged?

Straight Talking, Truth Telling Texan

Our two greatest Presidents were both known as honest men. George Washington, our first President of whom it is said that he chopped down the cherry tree and could not tell a lie, and Honest Abe Lincoln, our sixteeth President who lead our nation through the perilous times of the Civil War. Watching Governor Perry slug it out today with Governor Romney is like watching the truth stand up to a pack of lies and innuendo! Take for instance Governor Perry’s recent comments about Social Security. He said that “Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme,” and that “we can’t do that to our children!” That is the God’s honest truth.

That’s what the American Jobs Act is all about. It’s an attempt to buy his re-election! It’s an Act to get his own job back in November. Otherwise why else did he wait until his third year in office to start worrying about Americans who are out of work? May I suggest that President Obama is only worried about American voters who are out of work, because there is an election coming up next fall!

Yes, since the days of Sir Robert Bruce, who helped to free Scotland from English rule at the battle of Bannockburn in 1314, there has not been so much strife and turmoil in this tiny little island nation, and there have not been so many discontented Brits living between the white cliffs of Dover on the south, and the Shetland islands in the north!

We are so deep into debt now in America that the only way to get out of this hole we are in is to dig deeper! We just have to borrow more money in order to get out of debt and avoid a calamity! I wish we had a good conservative Republican candidate running for President right now, who had the same level of charisma, and who could express himself as effectively as Newt Gingrich does, but unfortunately we don’t yet, and merely wishing won’t make it so! Just like wishing that Newt Gingrich was a real conservative, and blinding your eyes to the fact of who he really is, won’t make it so either!

Newt Gingrich is NOT a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, and his latest remarks last week on NBC’s Meet the Press only serve to prove my point!

I was eating it up just like we all were! I was so already in the tank for The Donald, until he said that Paul Ryan, the ranking Republican member of Congress on the House Budget Committee, who is entrusted with the very important task of finding a permanent solution to the continuing Federal Budget crisis and the ongoing explosion of the National Debt, should just sit down and shut up! That’s right and Trump also called the Paul Ryan Budget Proposal too extreme and radical. EXCUSE ME!

Should America Get Involved In Yet Another War In the Middle East, In Libya?

I don’t often take exception to anything that conservative radio talk show host and Constitutional law expert, Marc Levin says. But the other day I heard him say that the Constitution does not require the President of the United States, to seek Congressional approval, before sending American soldiers into foreign wars, conflicts, hostilities, or whatever else they would like to call them, and putting young American men and women in harm’s way. He said it is only necessary to seek the approval of Congress, if we intend to use overwhelming force to annihilate our enemy! I don’t see that written anywhere in the Constitution, and boy oh boy do I disagree with him! We can nit pick or mince words over what does or does not constitute an actual war. But to me, when you begin bombing another country, that act of aggression is an act of war! It certainly is not an act of peace!

Our Broken Legal System

The witnesses that pushed Jared Loughner, the Arizona shooter to the ground and disarmed him and got a good look at him, after he committed his murderous rampage, would like to indentify him right now while they can still remember what he looks like, and begin to put this tragedy behind them, but they probably won’t get the opportunity to do so for many years, thanks to our broken legal system! Lawyers said that Loughner, in all likelihood would enter a plea of not guilty to murder and attempted murder at his arraignment. Can you believe that? Numerous eyewitnesses actually saw him commit these heinous acts. There were people there that managed to stay alive that are eyewitnesses to his deadly rampage. He is even recorded on videotape!

Should the Lane County Board of Commissioners Be Downsized From Five Members to Three Members?

After all of the bizarre, “Alice in Wonderland like” events that led up to the recent trial and conviction of Commissioners Peter Sorenson and Rob Handy for willfully violating Oregon’s Public Meetings Law, perhaps the residents of Lane County should reconsider whether they want a five member Board of Commissioners or they want to return to a three member Board of Commissioners. It is clear that we don’t really need a five member Board of Commissioners and that downsizing to a three member Board would in fact be beneficial for the following reasons.

Is Michelle Obama Turning Into Marie Antoinette or What?

When Louis XVI was the King of France and Marie Antoinette was Queen there was a shortage of food in the land. Their royal advisors informed the King and Queen that the people were hungry and Mario Antoinette is supposed to have said, “Let them eat cake.”

Today many Americans are overweight and so Michelle Obama is expounding on important matters relating to food, diet and the public health. She is meeting with her advisors, actually they are the Restaurant Owners Association and it’s members, and she is asking them to put less food on our plates so that when we go out to eat, or we take the family out for dinner on Saturday night, there will actually be less food available for us to eat.

Egypt: Peaceful Revolution or Pragmatic Realism!

What do the following names and dates all have in common:

Russia 1917-1920
China 1946-1949
Cuba 1959
Iran 1979

These are all places where so called “people’s democratic revolutions” began, to overthrow a despotic regime where the revolution was then high jacked later by authoritarian forces even worse than the governments that they sought to overthrow.

Our “Handy Dandy” Lane County Government

Does Lane County Commissioner Rob Handy know the difference between a slap down and a slap on the back? Well apparently not, because he thinks that Judge Michael Gillespie gave him and Commissioner Pete Sorenson the green light to go ahead and hold more of the those one on one “ chain type meetings” with other members of the Board Commissioners, behind closed doors to deliberate on matters of public policy.

Looking back at Oregon HB 3453

In 1995 after a protracted dispute over a sewer assessment lien, the City of Eugene foreclosed on the childhood home of Jack and Betty Neely at 1600 Horn Lane, Eugene Oregon. Then Lane County evicted the elderly siblings, Jack age 76 and Betty age 66, and sold their home at a public sale at the county courthouse to the lone bidders.

The Origin of the States Rights Movement

It was the waning years of the 18th century. A decade or more had passed since the end of the American Revolutionary War and the cessation of hostilities against the British. Napoleon was in control of France and France was busily conquering most of Europe and expropriating what was left of European national sovereignty. England and France were in a perpetual state of war and both countries were wreaking havoc on American commercial shipping; stopping and boarding our merchant ships, confiscating goods, and capturing and impressing our sailors into involuntary servitude in their respective navies. There were violent uprisings of the various Indian tribes in the sparsely settled lands west of the Mississippi. British and French weapons and ammunition were found in the possession of the warring tribes. It was felt that British and French nationals were trying to stir up trouble, and it was in this tense atmosphere that President Adams sent a delegation to France, and Congress passed the “Alien and Sedition Acts” and President Adams signed them into Law in 1798.

Federalism and Deliverance

The U.S. Constitution is a compact or a contract between two parties, the States on the one hand and the Federal Government on the other. It is perfectly logical to assume that if one of the parties to the contract (i.e. the States) always allows the other party to the contract i.e. the Federal Government, by virtue of the Supreme Court, to interpret the contract, that the party doing all the interpreting, that is to say the Federal Government, will soon have the upper hand

Slapped Down by the Judge, But Not Knocked Down / Handy or Maybe “Not So Handy”.

I guess that Rob Handy and Peter Sorenson can meet privately now as often as they want, to discuss the public’s business or even to commiserate over their own personal misfortunes, now that they are not part of a majority consensus, on the Lane County Board of Commissioners.

Are you Ready for a City Income Tax Eugene?

Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy and her rather shrewd advisor and friend David Funk think it would be easier to pass a restaurant tax in Eugene than a city income tax. Well I have to agree with them on that point, but how about passing no new taxes or tax increases at all?
